Homesick

I have been in the US for about two months. Sometimes I am so busy. I like that kind of busy feeling and I do not even want to have a rest, because I will miss my family when I stop. I clearly remember one poem which could best show my feeling now. It was written by one famous Chinese poet – Guangzhong Yu.

Homesick

When I was a child, my homesickness was a small stamp.
I’m here and my mother is there.
When grown up, I remained homesick, but it became a ticket.
I’m here and my bride is there.
Now I’m still homesick, but it is a narrow strait.
Separating me from my homeland.

I am far from home like Yu, although his homesick was because he could not go home.
We have the same feeling – homesick.

Sitting by the window, I heard a song from outside. I believe that song was played by a person who has the same feeling with me because of the song.
I got money in my pocket
I got a map in my frint seat
Got a sweet kiss from my mama
Her lipstick''s still on my cheek
Got a good luck from my daddy
And my sister''s favorite dress
Oh I miss them all already
And it ain''t even been ten miles yet
I know this ain''t goodbye forever
I know I can come back anytime
I want to my dreams are calling
I know it''s now or never
All I gotta do is remember where my heart is
When I get homesick
Homesick
I got a one bedroom apartment
A view of 16th avenue
Got my grandpa''s old guitar
And in my head a picture of you
I know this ain''t goodbye forever
I know I can come back anytime
I want to my dreams are calling
I know it''s now or never
All I gotta do is remember where my heart is
When I get homesick
If these dreams work out like I plan
They''re gonna take me far
But no matter how far
I know this ain''t goodbye forever
I know I can come back anytime
I want to my dreams are calling
I know it''s now or never
All I gotta do is remember where my heart is
When I get homesick
Homesick
Homesick
Homesick
Maybe homesick is part of life here for every international student. I should get used to it. I am an optimistic girl and I always think things in a simple way. Someone say that is not good, but I like me. The very moment I was in Chicago Airport, I feel lonely. People around me were different from me, our skin, hair, and eyes. I feel homesick.
But as some one said “We should find the interesting part of our lives by ourselves”, I should try to enjoy my life here. I have many good friends here in MSU. I love the quiet life here. The environment is so nice. Maybe I will be here for about two years. So I will try to explore my new life here and I believe studying abroad is smart choice for me.

  5. Great Topic.
Yes,I am homesick now. It is easy to be homesick because we are not in our hometowns. The lyric of this song is good because it showed the emotion of people who are homesick. However, we need to put our emotion down bevause we have to study.
    Thanks for your topic.

  6. Hi Mickie.

This is good topic to our international students. I heard many people felt homesick while they have been living another country. However, strangely I have nerve felt homesick, because my parents always pray to me and I felt their warm heart.

    Thank you

  7. Hi,Mickie~

This is a good topic and it's really a great poem! After I read your topic, I'm homesick, too. I know your feeling, as it's really hard for us to study in a strange country and leave home for a long time. Everyting looks more difficult to complish and we should be more independence.

All in all, it's a good job! Thank you so much^^

FIRST OF ALL, THERE WERE ONLY FEW MISTAKES. GREAT JOB. I KNOW MANY INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS GET HOMESICK (BUT I DON'T). BUT SAYING GOOD BYE TO SOMEONE YOU KNOW MEANS SAYING HELLO TO SOMEONE NEW. I AM SURE YOU WILL FEEL SO SAD WHEN YOU LEAVE HERE FOR YOUR COUNTRY. THANKS FOR THE INTERNET. YOU CAN ALWAYS SEE YOUR FAMILY!
